Frequently Asked Questions
-
Pre-Appoinment:
Consistently moisturize the areas you are getting tattooed. If your skin is too dry to be tattooed, a reschedule will be necessary, and a new deposit will be required.
Having clear, moisturized skin is integral to the tattoo process, as it greatly impacts the clarity of the stencil transfer, how well your skin accepts the ink, and can even increase the amount of trauma/impact to the skin. These factors can additionally affect the length of your appointment and the quality of your healing process.
Please do not arrive with excessive sun-exposure. This will similarly cause a reschedule of your appointment and require a new deposit.
Day of Your Appointment:
Please do not consume any alcohol or blood-thinning agents 24 hours before your appointment. Excessive bleeding will make the tattooing process more difficult and result in a longer appointment time.
Please be well rested, eat properly, and hydrate beforehand! (Eat a good meal and drink a lot of water before your appointment)
Continue to moisturize your skin.
Dress both comfortably and practically. Given Ten is currently only tattooing arms and legs, keep in mind your ideal placement for the tattoo. Please dress in a way that provides you with comfort and allows easy access to the tattooed area(s).
Plan what to bring with you: Please bring a valid state ID, your own snacks, a bottle of water, earphones, or a book to your appointment. Let Ten know if you would also prefer a silent appointment in your booking form!
-
Your appointment length will depend on the size, complexity of the tattoo, skin condition, and pain tolerance.
Smaller designs may take 2-2.5 hours, while larger designs may take 3.5+ hours (or even multiple sessions, depending on how large the final design is).
Handpoke tattooing is often a slower process than machine tattooing, so please keep this in mind when booking your appointment.
Please note that these times are Ten’s best estimates, and appointments may take shorter or longer. Try not to make plans immediately after the appointment, as the given time can not be guaranteed.
-
At this point in time, Ten does not tattoo custom designs. Stay tuned, as they likely will in the future!
However, Ten will make adjustments to their flash designs at their discretion, if it is communicated beforehand
-
To secure your appointment, a $25 booking fee is required.
The deposit will go towards the supplies and overall cost of your tattoo.

If you have to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please contact Ten no later than 48 hours before your appointment. If you contact Ten 48 hours in advance, your deposit will roll over for one future reschedule.
The client must confirm their new date within 7 days of their cancellation, before the deposit is considered forfeited.
Failure to communicate sufficient notice will result in the forfeiture of your deposit.
Arrivals more than 15 minutes late will result in an automatic cancellation and forfeiture of the booking fee.
In the event of a true emergency, please email tenbowmer@gmail.com asap. One reschedule and rollover of the deposit will be allowed. -
Ten offers complimentary touch-ups within the first 6 months of receiving your tattoo.
After 6 months, a $50 deposit and supply fee is required.

Please be prepared to follow proper aftercare. Ten wants to ensure you receive the best results possible and the most comfortable healing experience!
A major factor in the appearance of your healed tattoo is a direct result of the time and care you put into healing your tattoo.
Week 1:
Depending on your skin’s sensitivity to medical adhesives, your tattoo will be covered with Tegaderm (a clear, medical-grade adhesive that provides a layer between your skin and outside dirt and bacteria) or a layer of A+D ointment and cling wrap.
If Tegaderm is applied to your skin, it is recommended to leave it on for a minimum of 2 days to a maximum of 5 days.
If you are healing your tattoo traditionally (with A+D ointment and cling wrap), please leave the wrap on for a minimum of 3-5 hours.
After removing the wrap, gently wash your tattoo with a clear, unscented soap and pat dry with a clean/disposable paper towel. Then, moisturize your tattoo with an unscented lotion, being careful not to overly saturate the area. Complete this routine at least once per day.
Please note that immediately after your tattoo, your skin is likely to be sensitive and a little red. This is perfectly normal
Week 2:
If you are healing your tattoo traditionally, continue the cleaning/moitsurizing process (listed above).
If you are healing your tattoo with Tegaderm, gently and slowly remove the second skin while in the shower. Gently wash the area with a clear, unscented soap and proceed with the cleaning/moisturizing process (listed above).
Week 3:
At this point, your skin might start to appear dry and flaky. If it begins to feel itchy, try to moisturize your skin more frequently.
Although your skin may appear “healed” on the outside, the ink is still settling into the dermis layers of your skin. Be sure to continue avoiding submerging your tattoo in water and exposing it to excessive light.
Week 4:
After approximately 21 days, your skin and the ink should be almost, if not completely, settled! Enjoy your art :)
During the entirety of your healing process, please be mindful of the following!
Do not pick at your tattoo or the surrounding flaking skin.
Do not submerge your tattoo in the ocean, pool, or bath water. Avoid going to the sauna, lake, or beach for the first month after receiving your tattoo.
Avoid high-contact or sweaty activities - this will likely aggravate your skin and negatively impact your healing process. Excessive sweating in the early stages of healing will result in premature fading/uneven healing and will introduce new bacteria to the skin.
Please remember, receiving a tattoo is essentially creating an open wound in your skin, and should be treated as such. If you notice any significantly excessive pain, redness, swelling, or fever, please contact your local physician immediately!
After healing your tattoo, always wear SPF and lotion your skin consistently to support the longevity of your tattoo!
